What we publish

Four beats we cover every week.

01

The Full Playthrough Review

Every scored review ships only after we roll credits — 30–80 hours per title. New AAA and indie verdicts published every Thursday, no early-access hot takes.

02

Boss-Fight Post-Mortems

Frame-data breakdowns, phase-by-phase strategy and pattern maps for the fights everyone's stuck on — from Soulslikes to bullet-hell finales. Illustrated and spoiler-tagged.

03

Retro Deep Cuts

Monthly features on CRT-era classics, cancelled prototypes and import oddities — with emulation setup notes and where to legally buy the originals.

04

Indie Radar

We spotlight three under-the-radar indies each fortnight, interview their solo devs, and track them from demo to launch across PC and console.

What the community says.

"The Elden Ring boss post-mortems got me through Malenia after three weeks stuck. Actual strategy, not just 'get good'."

Jordan M. — Newtown, NSW · March 2025

"Their Indie Radar put me onto a game I now can't shut up about. The dev interview afterwards was genuinely great journalism."

Aiko T. — Melbourne, VIC · January 2025

"Finally a review site that finishes the game first. I trust their scores more than any big outlet — no launch-day hype."

Sam R. — Surry Hills, NSW · February 2025

"The retro column's emulation setup guide was flawless. Had my old import collection running on a CRT in an afternoon."

Leah B. — Brisbane, QLD · December 2024

Good to know

Frequently asked questions.

Do you accept review copies from publishers?+

Yes, but with rules. We accept review keys and disclose them on every article. A free key never affects a score, and we never agree to embargo terms that block criticism. Publishers can pitch at [email protected].

How is your review score decided?+

Every reviewer completes the main campaign before scoring, on the platform we disclose. Scores are out of 10 in half-point steps, weighing design, performance and value. We publish a plain-language summary of what moved the number up or down.

Can I pitch an article or become a contributor?+

Absolutely. We commission freelance features on retro preservation, fighting-game tech and indie scenes. Send a two-paragraph pitch with a writing sample to our contact address. We reply to every serious pitch within ten business days.

Is the newsletter free?+

The weekly digest is completely free and lands every Friday morning AEST. It rounds up new reviews, the latest boss guides and one retro pick. There's an optional AUD 6/month members tier for early access and archives.

Where are you based and can I visit?+

Our studio and CRT lab are at 67 Buckingham Street in Surry Hills, Sydney. We're not a walk-in shop, but we host reader meetups and retro nights roughly monthly — dates go out in the newsletter and on the contact form below.
